Steven began his career in 1973, undertaking his first valuation the following
year.

In 1997 he was offered a short term contract by Phillips
Auctioneers of New Bond street London.
'The year was extremely intense, but I felt
that to develop my career further I needed to have a hands-on experience of the high end jewellery auction field'.
Steven returned to his valuation service, now under
the banner of 'Hawksworth Associates'.
His client base includes
insurance brokers, dedicated valuation companies, retail jewellers and the police.
He occasionally travels to Europe and the Middle East on assignments.
In 2007 he was offered the position of Senior Valuer to set up a valuation department at
Assay Office London within Goldsmiths' Hall.
'The department has given me
the opportunity of offering a first class service in the heart of the City'.
In addition he continues to run his own independent valuation business 'Hawksworth Associates'.
In September 2009 he was voted by the National Association
of Goldsmiths' Institute of Registered Valuers 'Valuer of the Year' and received the David
Wilkins Trophy. 'It was an absolute honour to be voted by my peers and to receive an award dedicated to the memory of
one of this country's greatest pioneers in the field of valuation', said Steven ,'I shall continue to strive to maintain high
standards in valuation work'.
